The Birth of Wilder Dosal

My world has been rocked. My photography work at least. I’d been bugging Maranda about taking her birth pictures since she mentioned wanting them at her and Stevie’s maternity session and I bombarded her with texts every time she told me she had a doctors appointment. She was a trooper and kept me in the loop the whole time.

Finally, the day rolled around and I got the “I’m in labor!” text, which after reading, I totally squealed with excitement about. I packed my bag in anticipation for the long night/day ahead of me, prepped my husband and sister in law for the kids and made my way to the hospital, trying to keep my emotions in check and my nerves under wraps!

I got to the waiting room where I met Maranda and Stevie’s moms and made my way into the room, bursting with excitement but trying to play it cool! Maranda was so calm and at ease, totally a natural! I took some shots, and let them rest! We had a long night ahead of us (I say us, but they did all the hard work. And by they, clearly I mean Maranda!)

Night quickly turned into morning and morning into afternoon..Everyone was anxious and finally it was time. Maranda really wanted pictures of Stevie delivering the baby, a really cool opportunity he was able to have…They also waited the whole pregnancy to find out the gender of the baby. So many emotions and I was there to capture them all!

Guys, birth is beautiful. You forget or don’t quite remember once you’ve given birth yourself but damn it’s so intense is all the best ways! I will say, although the experience was more than I could have hoped for, birth photography is no joke! Everything happens so fast and you’ve got to be ready to roll with the punches!

I want to thank Maranda, Stevie and all their family for allowing me to be apart of such a monumental moment , giving me the opportunity to do my thing, keeping an opened mind and having me be there to welcome the birth of Baby Boy, Wilder! I will treasure this moment forever and have learned more than I ever thought I could!
